The Medical Device Engineer applies engineering knowledge to contribute, as directed, to the conduct of product development and manufacturing, including computer aided design (CAD) and prototyping. He/she can work independently with directional guidance, applying engineering principles and skills (for example, CAD, rapid prototyping, assembly, and operating equipment commonly found in prototyping or engineering labs). The Engineer possesses excellent attention to detail and clearly documents their activities with respect to the company’s quality control procedures. The selected candidate must be adaptable, able to respond to a variety of tasks, and able to prioritize work in line with company priorities.
• Maintains clean and orderly lab space, including organizing components and parts. • Performs bench testing of prototypes, assemblies, and materials in accordance with protocols and procedures. • Tissue mechanical testing • Keeps up-to-date laboratory notebook to document procedures and data. • Facilitates creation of documentation for new protocols and procedures. • Assists colleagues with preparation of written works and illustrations (i.e. manuscripts, grant proposals). • Prepares reports, abstracts, manuscripts, and presentations of research results. There may be opportunities to present results to partners and/or at meetings. • Shares knowledge (teaches or trains new staff), as appropriate and directed. • Fills other duties as needed. • Minimum 20 hrs/wk, 40 hrs/wk preferred (flexible schedule)
