What We Are Looking For

As a Senior Computer Vision Engineer, you’ll work closely with plant scientists and robotics engineers to realize our vision for an automated and adaptive greenhouse. This includes working on vision systems to help our robots navigate and interact with plants, as well as monitoring systems, to track plant health, growth rate, and the many variables that affect the growing process. Example projects might include identifying pest damage in plants, or tracking visual indicators to determine how specific nutrients affect plants at different stages in their lifecycle.

We’re looking for experienced engineers who understand the challenges of deploying solutions into the real world, and are comfortable working on new projects that span multiple domains. You should be able to work broadly and independently, familiar with camera fundamentals and machine learning alike, and also willing to get hands-on in the farm with robots and plants.

What You'll Do

• Work with plant scientists and data scientists to build vision systems and design experiments that drive decisions on how to optimize greenhouse operations
• Develop scanning and monitoring systems to track the health and status of hundreds of thousands of plants
• Interface with the software team to produce dashboards and other mechanisms for greenhouse staff, data scientists, and others, to use the outputs of your work
• Drive the design of vision systems on our robots, including calibration, localization, manipulation, etc.
• Work with and mentor software engineering team members
• Help build an amazing software team by participating in our hiring process.

What You'll Bring

• 3+ years of experience developing computer vision systems in production
• Proficient in both C++ and Python
• Understanding of cameras and depth sensors, and their evaluation and calibration
• Have trained and deployed deep learning models before
• BS in Computer Science or related field
• Ability to occasionally commute to our facilities in San Carlos and Gilroy.

Nice-to-Haves

• You have shipped a physical product
• You have adapted domain knowledge from experts into an automated vision system
• Experience with one or more of: OpenCV, Ceres, ROS, Pytorch
• Experience developing a dataset labeling and processing pipeline.
