At Toucan, we are building the infrastructure to reverse climate change.

The climate crisis stems largely from a misalignment of incentives. Polluters don’t pay for their emissions. The voluntary carbon credit market is changing this, enabling companies to offset their emissions by paying projects to capture carbon. Today, this market is highly wasteful due to a lack of liquid markets, forcing projects to go through layers of financial middlemen that take 50-80% fees.

Toucan is enabling a web3 regenerative finance ecosystem, by bridging carbon credits into crypto and pooling them in standardized categories. We have created the first globally accessible and liquid market for voluntary carbon credits. Working with T1 DeFi protocols and the community we enable carbon credits to be used in a variety of use cases, including green assets, NFTs, collateral and yields. In the month, our Base Carbon Tonne did 2b$ in volume and we have bridged over 16m tonnes of CO2, equivalent to the emissions of Kenya.

Your role

As our new Senior Finance Manager you will support Toucan’s CFO and broader Executive team, ensuring we have a robust and scalable Finance function.

Your responsibilities will include the following:

• Maintaining the accuracy, integrity and completeness of the financial records
• Preparing the monthly, quarterly and yearly financials (P&L, BS & CF) and reporting for actual, forecasting and budgets
• Execute payments with Accounting, Paymaster Service Provider and Banks.
• Manage the accounting system Abacus with our external Accounting Firm
• Design and preparation of timely KPIs and financial dashboards (including Network Value data)
• Monitoring financial performance by measuring and analysing results, initiating corrective actions and minimising the impact of variances
• Implementation of the budget process and primary contact for internal stakeholders
• Design, implementation and standardisation of finance and controlling processes, use of continuous improvement processes, benchmarks and best practice
• Promoting a constructive, healthy, positive and intelligent data driven culture based on accurate financials
• Promoting a cost conscious, return on investment culture throughout the organisation
• Working closely with the CFO on the 3-year plan and financial roadmap - including modelling, start-up valuations and cash flow forecasts
• Support CFO in next fundraising rounds and eventual token distribution events

You most likely have the following experience and skills:

• Ability to work autonomously and set own priorities, take ownership of what needs doing and a desire to grow with the organisation
• Capability to work in a start-up environment which can be fast moving and ambiguous
• Strong financial background (Business/Finance Degree or equivalent) with 5+ years’ experience, preferably with an external audit or multinational corporate
• Comfortable accurately processing accounting transactions (initially acting as key user for GL, AR & AP)
• Knowledge of Financial Compliance, Regulatory Environment (AML & KYC) and Swiss GAAP FER Accounting (IFRS is a bonus)
• Track record of successfully developing FP&A frameworks and processes
• Excellent communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
• Structured approach to complex problems
• Fluent in English. Fluency in German or French is a benefit
