Who we are

Remote work is one of the great equalizers of our time, allowing people to secure employment opportunities from companies around the world, no matter where they were born or where they live. Omnipresent does just that.

We are a customer-focused global employment services partner that can help companies grow their teams in 155 countries and territories around the world. How do we do that? Well, through our SaaS platform, OmniPlatform. We help companies (big or small) deal with the complexities involved with hiring global teams remotely, by managing employee onboarding through to offboarding, including legal and compliance, payroll, expenses, and health and benefits.

We also practice what we preach! We are a fully remote company which means we have no head office. Our team of more than 150 people is located in more than 35 countries and territories around the world. This means you can work from anywhere. We provide benefits and support in any global location just as we would for our clients and their remote teams. Our company has a flat structure which means accountability and taking initiative towards your everyday tasks that help further our ambitious company goals.

At a time when remote work is exploding, we're growing our team to help make global remote work a reality for people everywhere.

What will you do? (The role)

We're searching for a Legal Counsel with a strong entrepreneurial mindset and an ability to resolve a wide range of complex matters across 150 countries, independently and by engaging local counsel.

This is a strategic role within Omnipresent that unlocks our ability to deliver global legal solutions to a global audience.

You aren't a typical legal expert - you are eager to build the product and help bring it to market, not just advise or break down processes. You'd rather work with Product Management and Engineers to create massive change in messy environments than create and manage pretty documents and diagrams.

You will be a pivotal and highly involved member of an empowered innovation team that is disrupting the infrastructure of the global employment industry.

You will obsess over the customer experience and look for solutions both inside and outside the company to solve their needs. In doing so you will interact with all aspects of the company - from Sales, Finance, Payroll, Operations, Legal to just about everyone - to conceptualise and implement your novel solutions.

Specifically, you will:

  • Analyse existing legal processes and unbundle them to understand how can we repackage them to deliver the same business value at 100x the efficiency and speed.
  • Horizon-scanning, especially for notable regulatory developments in Employment law
  • Innovate to find new and better ways of delivering our services.
  • Work with everyone in the company, from product managers and sales to scope software and processes that will support exponential business growth.
  • Work with other product teams to identify and manage cross-team dependencies.
  • Be a part of the delivery team to ensure operational, regulatory and organisational delivery complexities are managed.
  • Work with cross-functional stakeholders to elicit business, legal and functional requirements.
  • Advise on our internal team from a legal perspective

ūüí° If you are not an experienced lawyer please do not apply!

What are you great at? (Previous experience)

  • Pragmatism: You understand and are deliberate about making trade-offs between exploration and exploitation. You can iteratively define the scope of process and software respectively to ensure both nimble business value delivery, as well as consistency with the strategic goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills: Your communication skills build bridges. You extract requirements from those you can't express them clearly, then clearly document them. You can explain legal concepts to non-legal people, and business concepts to engineers, designers or sales, and reach consensus in multidisciplinary environments.
  • Building alongside others: you enjoy being a proactive member of a team focused on creating new user-centric products.
  • Out of the box thinker: you are able to break down complex legal processes and problems and can quickly digest complex information.
  • Systems thinking: you are able to understand both the big picture and the small details, and can comfortably understand the implications of one on the other.
  • You are inquisitive and detail-oriented. You are not satisfied with the easy answer, but you dig deep to uncover crucial insights.
  • Fast delivery: You love working in a fast-paced environment, pushing existing boundaries and constantly creating new value.

You're the kind of person who... (Requirements)

  • Has 3+ years of legal experience post-qualified experience
  • Minimum of year at a good law firm
  • Experience doing international work across multiple countries in their region
  • Has and maintains a very high level of accuracy and attention to detail even when juggling multiple priorities.
  • Has a proven track record in delivering business value in a complex problem space involving cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Has strong entrepreneurial skills building product from zero to one.
  • Takes a flexible approach, able to operate effectively with uncertainty and change, and goes the extra mile in order to deliver on our customer commitments
  • Has experience working directly with stakeholder, engineering and product managers in an agile environment and understands the software development lifecycle.
  • Loves to solve complex operational issues by building simple processes, identifying and using modern (online) solutions to ensure a maximum degree of automation, replacing manual human interaction wherever possible
  • Has strong business & legal skills to answer complex business questions.
  • Has excellent communication/presentation skills and ability to build positive relationships

What would make you really stand out? (Bonus points)

  • Scale-up or high growth start-up experience
  • Demonstrable entrepreneurial experience.
  • Experience in a tech company in an industry with significant regulatory or operational constraints such as e-commerce, Fintech, HR tech or Ride-Hailing.
  • Management experience.

What's in it for you?

  • Shared ownership: Being a part of our journey means you'll own a piece of Omnipresent.
  • Annual vacation entitlement: 33 days including local holidays.
  • Equipment and infrastructure: We give you a budget for all the equipment you need to work effectively wherever you are including contribution towards internet expenses.
  • Company retreats: We are planning annual company-wide retreats, and well as socials and other team building activities.
  • Flexible working: Work from anywhere in the world! We don't care where or when you work, as long as the job gets done. We are genuinely as flexible as the work allows.
  • Training, coaching, and an environment that promotes career ambition and progression.
  • Access to co-working spaces
  • Mental health and wellbeing support and services through Plumm

Home office setup

It should go without saying that we will provide you with the equipment you need to work from home in the same way you would if you were in an office. Prefer a PC to a Mac? No problem. You choose what you need. We'll give you a budget to get all the infrastructure that enables you to work effectively wherever you are, including broadband costs.

Education budget

Your development should be a continuous conversation with your manager and they will support you in choosing what you need whether that's accreditations, workshops, or formal degree programs or courses. Important is that you update your Individual Development Plan with any kind of education you take, so that you make sure that you apply the knowledge you have gained in theory, and the learned information will stay with you long term.

Co-working space access

We offer all employees access to co-working spaces wherever they live in a flexible manner so that you use what you need.

We believe remote working is a great equalizer and we practice what we preach. Inclusivity is fundamental to our mission and we are committed to conscious inclusion. We believe in the potential of everyone; regardless of race, religion or belief, ethnic origin, different physical ability, family structure, socio-economics, age, nationality or citizenship, marital, domestic or civil partnership status, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
